Inspections
A septic system inspection is an important
thing. It combines common sence and science, and if
not done correctly it
could cost thousands of dollars down the road.
First thing is the septic tank and drainfield
were designed and installed for a specific home. A certin
number of bedrooms
and baths and if someone added on to the home over the years but did not add
on to the septic system you could move a large family into a home and have
septic system failure very
soon.
Next you need to know the location of the septic
tank and drainfield and be sure no one has built
anything over it. Then
if there are no access doors have an inspector dig up and open the septic
tank.
They will be able to measure the solids in the bottom of the septic
tank and the amount of sludge
floating on top of the water.
Obtain any pumping record from the previous
owner and keep a record of any problems and your
pumping and treatment schedule.
